    Hallo everyone,
I live just outside Worcester, and I've been in this house for nearly 50 years. I'm just coming up to retirement and view my garden (which has gone through many transformations in those years) as a valuable scourse of income so I am at present in the process of stripping the garden and converting it back to a vegetable garden which it was when the kids were young ( what goes around...etc.). I'm looking forward to contributing to this site as it looks to be just what I'm after as I've got lots of questions and a little bit of experience to pass on. Happy Gardening everyone and a very happy Christmas to you all

    Hi, Ricpop!
I'm sure you'll find what you want here, as we are all in the same boat - ask and answer, since everyone knows something, and nobody knows everything! :D

Hi, Jack Oliver. Seems like our rose experts are not on at the moment ...perhaps it is detention ... Here's a tenner guess from me, and I'm no rose person ...

    Perennial
    Thorns
    No thorns
    Climbing
    Rambling
    Shrub
    Mini
    Patio
    Scented
    Unscented

Thorns - the shape perhaps is unique to the rose.
Perfume - again as far as I know no plant has an identical fragrance (though the range of fragrance in roses is not small)

Roses are propogated by budding rather than grafting.

    Its association with romance

A war named after them - the war of the roses.

Thats about all I can hazard a guess at - but then I just like roses so don't compare them with others. Sorry
