At the bottom of our new garden I have dug out gorse bushes etc that were there exposing the boundary brick wall.

I am thinking of planting a climbing rose up this wall does anyone have anysuggestion as to what type?

The base of the wall is north facing and there is a trellis type fence from about 3foot up that will get all the south facing sun.

    thanks, lisa

    Lisa,

    Have you considered a Camelia?

They don't flower as long as a climbing rose, but you can get some lovely varieties.

Is your garden cold and exposed, do you get much hard frost in winter. Clematis is one idea come in all shapes and sizes, all colours and all interesting

I have just got some clematis plugs that I am growing on to place across some of the walls.

I am not sure whether my soil is acidic or alkalinic so don't know whether a camellia would be suitable although I do like them, I will need to get a testing kit.

    oh the decisions!!

What do other people in the area grow? That would give you a good idea what would do well in your garden.Or do you want to be different? Personally I like gorse bushes. Sorry I didn't spot it was your question about the clematis plugs.
