Ginkgo Biloba

Seen them in the local park. Grow about 100 ft tall. Still perhaps all three wont germinate....eh.

 

I have grown from seeds in 1981 and still have off springs ...want to know more ???

No But I would like one,

In to strappy exotic leafy things and palms at the mo I think they come under the new term Architectural plants

I don't know if you have any local Tesco's that have set up these tent type garden centres in the car park yet (they are all supposed to have them soon as they are trying to get some of the B&Q market)

Bought a Phoenix palm today about 4' high 6.99 they have also had Tree Ferns (antartica) a foot high 19.99 (going rate is about 30 quid a foot)and various Ferns, Phormiums, Standard Bays, Ornamental Grasses, Yuccas, and various bulbs, corms Tubers...some not bad prices among them

 

I have grown Ginkgo biloba from seed 24 yrs ago and kept 1 plant in a big 3" pot, as I didn't want it to go 30 ft at the time,but planted it in ground some yrs later, but sadly 1 Christmas eve, if you remember, gales blew fences down, my rare Sheep,and other animals trimmed it early morning,severly and not done well ever since. They do suffer from die back, so was lucky still, managed to take some cuttings 2 yrs later, as it was still leaving up. Got 2 now and about 2ft+ tall.So this time I will plant it in ground in another area and keep one in a big pot.

Pete lolol sorry I'm not English lol foot might have been better lol.and great heat outside, should be there instead ... this 2 are in 3lt (19cm) pots over wintered, just start to shoot now. 1 is more branched, wo will keep this for taking cuttings later and will put both in about 12" tubs for this year and plant 1 in ground somewhere,maybe next year.

Good old Switzerland but got used to this climate here now, one thing at least milder winters.lol
