Hi Kellie. They are very invasive and shoot up every where don't they. My parents had the same problem and had to lift the sets and dig them out as they appeared. It was about four years until none came up.. :( Not what you wanted to hear!!

Kellie have you used SBK..? If you have, not enough strength...repeat after a week or so,make some cut or holes in stump and mix SBK with some sump oil to make it run less fast.

[IMG] Quite agree with the SBK. Drill the holes if possible & pour in a very strong solution (or even neat), of SBK then cover until all has soaked in. that should do it. I have found this method very effective. [IMG]

I have same problem in my back garden, its taking over the only part not yet wheelchair friendly. Pardon my ignorance - but what's SBK? some sort of secret magic spell ;) (I wish!)

    Hi Mrs MacGyver
SBK is a contact weedkiller - theres a Path & patio one (which won't kill your woody stuff) http://www.vitax.co.uk/home-cat/safety/pdf/HOM011.pdf
    & a brushwood one
http://www.vitax.co.uk/home-cat/safety/pdf/HOM010.pdf - will destroy everything it touches, but unsafe for use where it might come into contact with drains(i.e patios) & leach into the drainage system (should be reported if this happens, as is hazardous).
Unfortunately with Rhus, cutting it back just makes it shoot more - you have to tear the shoots out to destroy the adventitious buds, dig out the main stump/plant and if you want to keep it, replant with something like "bamboo guard" or some other hard physical barrier buried around it - which should keep it contained
