Thanks, Woo, LMRR and Borrowers :) It really does feel good to finally see some progress and development :)

I got back out there yesterday with the plan of planting my veg, but I got distracted by laying the concrete sleeper seating area :o (I'll get the pictures posted once uploaded)

I did managed to dig some of my home made compost into my plot though, so that's looking and feeling all lush and ready now.

Not sure if I'll be able to get much done today as the weather is against me so far, but we'll play it by ear :)

I've been busy once again and thought I'd update my thread :) Some are a while ago, so I'll take you through the journey

My raised allotment plot and starting to make the seating area with the concrete sleepers
    [IMG]

The seating area all laid - we will eventually be planting Camomile in the gaps between the sleepers.

We used the flags that were stepping stones in the back to build a base for the compost bin
    [IMG]

We started to put down the weed membrane, but it's rather thin so we're going to need to double up - plus I need my recycled rubber flooring for around the plot before we can think about sorting the gravel
    [IMG]
The tyres were rescued from our street and are going to be the home for our new apple tree

The back garden showing off my new recycled tyre stepping stones
    [IMG]

We're hoping to finish off the decking step this weekend and get some more done out there - including creating the mowing edge for the new shaped lawn!

I'm sure one day I'll be able to sit and relax out there! :lollol:

Sar, Just found this thread, and I would like to congratulate you and your Mum on a job well done. You could put some guys I know to shame. In fact all the Lady gardeners on this Web Site are absolutely fabulous. You are all giving me so many ideas for my garden and the fact that recycled materials are being used is so exciting. I am a believer in re-using as much as possible. I am an avid skipaholic and cannot pass one bye without looking to see what could be used in my garden. I spotted a huge skip yesterday and looked in to see yards of the thick monoblock in their. I am going along later to ask permission(always ask cos its stealing if you don't) to retrieve as much as possible.
Keep up the good work and lets see the latest pics

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments :) It is nice to see that people are liking the recycled aspect of my garden - wondered if people might think I'm a bit odd, with clearing the street of tyres and all ;)

Sorry I haven't given an update lately, I was made redundant at the end of July, so have been job hunting. Very inconvenient when you have so much planned to get done in the garden!

I'll get some photos when I can and get an update for you all.

G.Man, what a find! I too am a bit of a skip diver - people throw out the best things! Most of my degree show pieces were made out of cable rescued from the skip! What do you plan to do with your monoblock?

I definitely look forward to the day that I can enjoy a glass of wine or 4! :D Will just need the weather to be on my side ;)
