only got my lottie a few weeks ago and I havent cleared it yet. Havent got a cold frame or anything so having to rely on window sills which isnt the best.

I have some tomatoe plants on the go and also peppers. Only last night I planted some pak choi seeds (only half a dozen) in those expanding peat seedlet thingies and also some perpetual beet in same. But apart from that I havent got much going. I have some mangetout seeds but havent got anywhere to start them yet. Radish I can plant outside soon i guess and also lettuce.

have I left it to late for peas, beans and corn? I also have some squash seeds and I was going to start these the end of the month. My potatoes have chitted but weather just seemsto be against me.

any advice would be truly welcomed as all i know about veg growing is from the internet and forums like these!

potatoes are usually ok under ground. Beans and corn can be sown definately. Indoors for the corn though. peas can be either sown in or outdoors.

L-G, there is no rush, the later you plant, the warmer the soil, the quicker the seeds will germinate. They always catch up with plants sown indoors earlier in the season.

How exciting! a new allotment! Hope you gets lots of enjoyment (and tasty veg!) out of it for many years! :D

I planted out some onion sets today on mine - get them in soon if your going to grow some. Potatoes went in at the weekend. Agree with Garden Guru - don't worry about the weather with spuds at this time of year.
Also have chillies, tomatoes, salad leaves, on window sills - planting out mid-May. Will start some courgettes, pumpkins and squashes and beans in next couple of weeks inside.
Am going to plant carrot & beetroot and cabbage seeds outside next weekend.

This site has some simple advice on range of crops:

you could plant peas in a length of plastic drainpipe, then just slide them into a little trench when they are about an inch high. Also it saves then from mice eating them J
