Shallots in containers

    I only have a small veg plot, can you please tell me if it is possible to grow shallots in containers. Also, any other tips on plants that grow well in containers would be gratefully received.

    Apart from the obvious like tomatoes, peppers and strawberries in nice sunny positions, french beans do quite well and you could always try a dwarf lettuce like "Little Gem" and radishes; herbs also do very well. I suppose you could try most things apart from root vegetables. The down side is watering - in hot weather(what's that?) you might need to water at least once a day with weekly feeding during the growing season. Grow bags are very useful if you are not bothered about "looks".
