Hi chaps, we moved into our newly bought house 6 months ago - it had a big old Wisteria which after great thought decided to get rid of however whilst there is nothing much attempting to sprout from the old 'stumps' (where they can be seen) there must still be some 'live' branches/roots in the cavities/foundations as there is new growth coming out from under the eaves in a couple of places and there are even some growing into the house. I could, of course, keep pulling these out but they will just grow again I am more interested in destroying the source of the sprouts - anyone any advice please. Regards Roger

Good grief - I have never seen that before!!

I'm not an expert on this, and I'm sure someone will be along who is much more capable of answering this than me.

    But..

I would think that a glysophate weedkiller, like Round-Up will kill it, maybe after more than one application, as it will take the weed-killing properties back to the root and kill that too. You'd have to be careful treating in the house though, if you have children around. So I'd keep them away from the area where the Wisteria has emerged.

Thanks for that ... yes that's what I've started with (I picked up some Glyphosate from Bayer ... is Roundup any better)? ... I'll keep squirting ... Roger

I'd agree with Paladin - that's Virginia Creeper if ever I saw it.

Thanks chaps ... sorry about my poor identification - we had Wisteria at the back of the house, this is at the front - I didn't realise (my wife's the gardener in the family) - I just do the killing !
