Does anyone know what this is? Or know where I can find out? I saw it while I was in honeymoon in Zanzibar (E African island). It was a shrub about 6-7 feet tall, the flowers had a strong fragrance but that's about all I can tell you, sorry! Thanks in advance.

The plant in question is Plumeria, sometimes called Frangipani.I have a plant of this in my conservatory comes in white, yellow or red. AS you said the flowers are scented. Nice one!

I grew my plant from seed some years ago . Its not difficult to germinate but it does need a warm conservatory to grow well, also takes up a fair amount of space.Takes about 3 years to flower.Problem with red spider.

Pete, what colour is your Plumeria from seed ? Did you only grow one? Do you know, if you have a few, you can get open cross pollination and may get a completley different colour from next seeds, the more the merrier.
I know someone who had flowers from seed in 18 months,in UK.
Red spiders hate water, so just spray them occasionally.

The plumeria I grew from seed was white whith a yellow centre. Yes I only grew one as I don't have enough space for more, as I have a lot of other plants.
As for the red spider, I know all the books say red spider don't like water and humidity, but you try telling them that. I've found the only thing that works is to buy the preditors that eat them. Its expensive but effective.

I'm curious now, what type of Plummy it is and where you got it from...looks to me it's the Singapore... I got 1 cutting, hope it makes it to Spring lol...
I never seem to be bothered with red spider, more likely with greenflies, got my 'gun' ready, they even found their way in propagator, just noticed today, but Squeezy did the trick.

Yes I've used Ciltern seeds a lot over the years.
Always send their catalogue just before Christmas, something to read when theres not much else to do.
