Does anyone remember Lemmy and the Family Cooking?

I thought "the" song was It's Got to be Magic ... t'other half thinks no but can't say what it is ???

The reason I ask is my cousin Gary was the drummer and we've lost touch in latter years ... can't ask Sis because she wouldn't have a clue!

What I want is the lyrics to the song.

Maybe I should be in the Muppet Show here ?????

    Thanks anyone.

Limmie & the family cooking ............A family group that formed in Canton, OH, by Limmie, Jimmy, and Martha Snell. Limmie was born in Dalton, AL, but his family moved to Canton when he was young. As Limmie B. Good, the born performer began recording at 11 for, among others, Columbia Records, i.e., "Good Dancing Angel" b/w "I'm Going to Kiss My Girl" before the advent of Limmie and the Family Cooking. The group had one single on Scepter Records prior to signing with Avco Embassy, where they cranked out three quick hits in the United Kingdom: "You Can Do Magic" (Top Ten U.K. 1973), "Dreamboat," and a remake of the Essex's "A Walking Miracle" (Top Ten U.K.). While big in England, they barely stained the charts in the States. Sandy Linzer and Steve Metz served as the main producers on the album. A remake of "Lollipop" failed for the group, who, unlike the O'Jays (also from Canton), were more pop than soul.

The hits stopped, but Limmie remained popular in England and actively performed there until the mid-'80s as two entities: Limmie and the Family Cooking and Limmie Funk Unlimited. Their influence remains in the millennium as Michael La Roche Management represents a Limmie and the Family Cooking tribute group.

Limmie Funk Unlimited formed around 1976 and consisted of Limmie (vocals), Nick Straker (organ), Dave McShearer (guitar), Pete Hammond (bass), and Andy Gierus (guitar). Funkier and harder-edged than Limmie and the Family Cooking, they played discotheques in the U.K., Holland, and Sweden, and recorded with producer Simon Cohen, but their MC-promoted releases never amounted to anything. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide

Hey, Gogs, thank you, and thank you roders for finding the song ... I had the song title and group name wrong (how surprising is that) so may have found it had I had my info right. [IMG]

I'll put Gary's pic up over the weekend ... me chopped off perhaps! [IMG]

Dalton, Alabama, was just near where we lived but this had nothing to do with family connections.

    Thanks all.

PS Love a Horse with No Name xx
