Finding 'lost' tools

For all sorts of reasons, not least of which because I can be disorganised, easily side-tracked or just plain interrupted, I can often spend as much time looking for the trowel, hand fork, secateurs etc., as I do using them. In winter this isn't so much of a problem, but this time of year, well ....

I've tried painting the handles but every colour seems to match or blend with at least some of the plants; a serious accident years ago means I'm unable to kneel so a 'gardener's belt' doesn't really help because as I bend things either dig me in the ribs or stomach or fall out and get mislaid that way. I've got a cheap plastic 'tool tidy' but am apt to nip off to do a little just-job while I've got the secateurs in my hand.

Any suggestions? Apart from 'be more organised' (which I already know) or my husband's which was - 'drill a hole through the handles and hang 'em round your neck'!

 

There's at least two trowels somewhere in the borders of my garden, "not necessarily on the surface" which disappeared sometime last year. Fortunately Wilco's sell them at around £2.
Digressing
We've also a set of hand tools with attachable extending handles which can be connected to them and each other which does avoid some bending.

 

For secauteurs I have a belt holster.

I think you will find that if you pay a lot for the tool you wont loose it or mistreat it.

If you had mislaid your Felcos at £40+ you would be out there at night with a torch and search party sifting through the compost

 

Which reminds me, somewhere beneath our greenhouse are a 3',4',5' triangle, a small spirit level and a pair of long nosed pliers.
