I caught a snatch of the middle part of a song on Tv today, the lyrics being,
"I end up as I start out, just crying my heart out"
and have been wondering ever since what the song (which I've heard many times before) is.
It's slow and tuneful so I guess it's from the 1940s or before.
Can anybody identify it and prevent me from going completely crackers? [IMG]

    Dont You Know I Care

    Though folks with good intentions
Tell me to save my tears
Well I'm so mad about him
    I can't live without him
Never treats me sweet and gentle
    The way he should
    I've got it bad
    And that ain't good
    My poor heart is sentimental
    Not made of wood
    I've got it bad
    And that ain't good
    And when the weekend's over
    And Monday rolls around
I end up like I start out
    Just crying my heart out
He don't love me like I love him
    No, nobody could
    I've got it bad
    And that ain't good
Lord above me, make him love me
    The way he should
    I got it bad
    And that ain't good

If you put the words of almost any song into " " and Google it, you will find a site with the lyrics. There are only two which so far I have failed to come up with a complete history etc.

Palustris, I have been trying to find the title of a song for more than two years! I google
it every so often but no luck at all. I know all the words but not the title, who wrote it
or who was the original singer.

As JackbytheHedge says "it drives me crackers"! [IMG]

More and more as time goes by
I try to put an end to my philandering
    and love a girl.
Somehow it's so hard to find
the kind of girl who stops your mind
    from wandering to other girls.
When I see a pretty face
I feel my heart begin to race excitedly
    and my head spins
    Soon the sweet excitement dies
and I begin to criticise and disagree
with little things, such silly things.
And so at the end of it all
    I'm still searching for love
My friends all seem to fall
but I'm still searching for love.

In your teens it common law
to run around with girls galore
and who's to blame when none you love.
    Later it becomes a bore
to give the world and so much more
to settle down with one you love.
If I live a life of ease
and if I'm much too hard to please
the blame is mine and mine alone
But I know some girl somewhere
will win my heart and make me care
and in good time we'll have a home
    with kids of our own.

And so at the end of it all
    I'm still searching for love.
My friends all seem to fall
but I'm still searching for love.
More and more as time goes by
I try to put an end to my philandering
    and love a girl. "

I tried doing that with the lines I quoted but couldn't find anything I recognised.Maybe I did it wrongly.
I can't help with the other song, I'm afraid. The lyrics seem reasonably literate so it can't be too modern!
    I hope somebody helps soon.
For years I tried to identify a song which begins, "Dear Dorothy Dix, I'm in an awful fix" and eventually found it was the verse to "The End of a love affair". Now I seem to stumble across the song all over the place...it's often the way.

Also, if you hear something on the radio that you don't what the track name/artist is, enter 2580 (a staright line on your phone) on your mobile, let the music play for about 2 or 3 seconds, almost instantly, you will be sent a text message with the name of the artist and track name. ;)

Works very well at pub music quiz's :D
