I thought as there wasn't a holiday topic I would start one. I know many of us have already been but it may serve as an ongoing hints, tips and recommendations thread as well as pics, warnings about places, food, site seeing etc.
Here are a few pics of ours, not many flowers out in Turkey or N Cyprus other than bougies and Oleander.

This was our first visit to this end of the Med and liked all that we saw in Turkey(olu Deniz) and in Northern Cyprus(Kyrenia and Famagusta) which is poorer and quieter than it's Greek neighbour. Famagusta is on the no-mans land border and is surrounded my the military and empty buildings vacated in '74 and would not be to everybody's liking, eerie but interesting.
A few bouts of stomach upsets, one really bad which caused other half to end up in Fethiye hospital for 7 hrs (on a drip!). Apart from that (and the Turkey bombings)we had a fantastic time. Both places are on a par with UK as far as prices go for food, not as cheap as other Med countries.

Love the picture of the Jay and the tree critter, Strongy, and the harbour is lovely and quaint.

Not pleasant regarding the tummy upsets, especially Mrs S ... how dreadful. Hope all is cleared from the system now!

Great pics - sorry about the tum upset - mustve been bad to end up in hospital!

We were in S Cyprus in 1978 and went as near as we could to Famagusta - very eerie - all the buildings were shells :(

I also love Turkey - bet it was a bit worrying about the bombs  Glad youre both home safe and sound [IMG]

Thanks LoL and Marge, all cleared up now. ;)
You know what I mean about the buildings then Marge, there is three miles of deserted(military controlled) beach from the hotel we stayed in down to the Greek border, such a waste. :(
In house advisor lived in Famagusta as a child before the separation so she wanted to see it again. [IMG]

    Hi Strongy!!!

Glad you had a good holiday, and the Tummy upsets are sorted & you are all safe.....

    Love the Lizard!!!!!

I have just got back from a surfing holiday in Cornwall - it was FAB!!! (except for the VERY NOISY Owls hooting and screeching all night long!!!!) The boys had a blast, the surf was just right, the rockpools were stuffed full of the biggest Gobies and Blennies they have seen, and on our last night whilst toasting Marshmallows on sticks over the camping stove, we were watching the bats flying around the tent!!!!

We had no TV, radio, mobiles (my in car charger decided not to work!!), playstation, computer, dvd, etc, etc...... we actually had a few conversations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately had to came back to the rat race.... :(

Dalbuie.Lovely photos of Mull.It is our Favourite Scottish Island.Wait until I show my other half.
Where did you stay?We have stayed on the campsite at Craignure, a cottage at Salen, and also in a cottage overlooking the ruins of Aros Castle.
Tobermory is lovely with all its coloured shops and cottages.

My husband would love to live over there, but I don't think I could stand the wet and Midges.

    Lovely photos though

Kandyfloss, we stayed in a lovely B&B called Achafraoich, which means field of heather. It was just outside Tobermory, the cottage was lovely, set on seven acres of garden which was lovely but needed a bit of tlc.My hubby was doing the Mull half marathon with his sister.A bit too much for me though, I would rather have got to work in the garden. As for Midges, its amazing where they can get!
