    Where is the best place to buy a greenhouse? Homebase? Has anyone bought one off the net? Do they come in standard sizes?

          Fitzy,

          Just trawling Ebay looking for a heated propagator and came across these people that run a greenhouse shop on Ebay ,Greenhouse Warehouse.

          If you haven't got anything sorted out yet, I hope this helps.

          Nathan.

          What ever size greenhouse you buy after a year you can bet it wont be big enough. So buy as big a one as you can get.

          If you are a serious grower and can pay a bit extra, buy a wooden greenhouse, preferably Cedar wood, well worth the extra. I have had my 12x8 Cedarwood for 19 years, still like new and find plants keep much cooler in Summer and warmer in winter. Also you can put hooks, fittings, staples or repair should you have storm damage.Aluminium frames are very flexible, clips flick out and glass drops, the rest will go too.You can never make fit glass again after bent frame. Also bolt down is very important, chose a sheltered but sunny side, if possible. Looks more attractive in your garden too.Look for Wooden Garden Building Specialist. I got mine from Shire Garden Buildings Nottingham, not sure if they still exist.
          Happy Gardening!

            Not sure whether this is the correct place to pose the following question but if not, perhaps someone can direct me ?
            Having only had wooden GH's over the years, I now need to purchase an aluminium 10 x 8 . Looking at various manufacturers, the best option would appear to be Halls.
            Wonder whether anyone can either recommend or suggest an alternative manufacturer.
            Thanks in advance

            @Parrot
            I recently bought a 12*12 Rhino and find it excellent, I also have a 10*8 Eden both available from All Brands | Greenhouses Direct
            When comparing them remember to add in all the extras you want, Rain pipes, automatic vent openers, etc. Many greenhouses will benefit from more opening roof vents than standard. Also as Pete pointed out above get the biggest one you can afford/have space for and you will still fill it sooner than you thought.

            Thank you NigelJ for the Greenhouses Direct - I will check that out.

            Time to downsize now - I began with an 8 x 6 some 50 years ago - progressed to a 50 x 20 and have been reducing over time.

            Unfortunate but a 10 x 8 is all I can fit in now.

            Thanks again.

            Whatever you do, do not buy one of those cheap light weight pipe framed houses with the plastic sheeting covers. They will simply blow across the yard with the first light breeze.
