everlasting sweet peas

hello!
For the second year running my everlasting sweet pea has performed poorly - it's a mass of green instead of pink!
It's had a few flowers - but only a few - and the new buds are dropping off.
It's supposed to be drought tolerant - it's flourished in many a hot summer here and on clay - but could that be the problem?
It's not the sort of plant that people nurture - they just leave it to ramble.
Any help would be appreciated

 

Mine has to be tolerant of everything - overrun by a gunnera and golden hop, never watered - and it's looking good this year. Has yours ever performed well where it is planted now?
A weakling honeysuckle has taken over since we replanted it somewhere else.

 

Yes - we've been here 7 years and it was well established when we came here
I just don't understand what's up with it.

 

If a plant is making lots of growth but little flower, then usually its just too darn comfortable. If your feeding it stop - but it would be worth giving it some potash rich feed, e.g. tomotoe feed. If your watering it then cut that down as well.

 

I have been feeding everblasted pea alternately with Roundup, Pathclear and Weedol interspersed with episodes of deep excavation to try to remove roots and still the damned stuff keeps coming back. The flowers are insipid, have little scent and it will form a straggly mass of strangulating stems if you turn your back for five minutes.

Give me good old fashioned real annual sweetpeas any day :D

 

I gather you don't like them Frogescue :D :D

However I too prefer the annual ones.
