Now i'm a veg grower & know nothing about roses.

    Willow(Daughter #2) bought a potted rose 2 weeks ago & its suffering.

Its on the window sill & its loosing all its old growth, although its putting up new shoots.

Is this lack of light ?

I don't think they like being indoors - too dry and hot for them. I'm no expert on roses Ziggy, hopefully Woo will be along soon to give you a proper answer.

 Yes Woo is your man, but for now put them somewhere cool bright & frost free as they have been indoors the frost will kill them... Keep them just moist & Woo will advise you further...

 Whatever you do don't just shuv them outdoors as it is so frosty..

Cheers for that. I pruned off the dying bits, its got some healthy growth underneath, so perhaps I was just panicking. Moving it around the hose today to keep it in the sun.

Good morning Ziggy is it a miniature Rose or a Rose in a pot which you are going to plant outside later on? Have you got any more Info my friend:)

Only if it is a Minature Rose Ziggy
Keep your minature rose in a sunny area of your home. Your Rose will not bloom unless it get enough sunshine.Check the rose's soil for dryness each day. If you stick your finger in the pot and the soil is dry an inch down, you need to water. Water your mini roses deeply so the roots get a good drink--water until the water starts seeping out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot:)

    Hi Woo,

Not sure as it was marked down to 50p in the sale. The lady in the nursery said it can go out when the weather gets better.

On inspection, there appear to be 4 separate plants in the 6" pot, half a crown each, bargain.

Hi Ziggy My first reply to you was for Mini indoor Roses .:)

This is only what I would do if it were me
4 plants in a 6inch pot,Going on the information supplied (which was zero) sorry Ziggy just couldn't resist that,No Seriously my friend,I Personally would be inclined to re pot them singularly in there own larger pot and keep 2 of them inside and put 2 of them outside under cover etc (somewhere frost free) until the weather improves, that will give each of the 4 roses more chance to survive and bloom,in the meantime I would keep an eye on them just to see what we actually have in these pots when we know for sure we can then decide on a more permanent plan of action.:)

    :D Like it Woo :D

I'm pretty much in the dark about them myself, but thats a very good Idea Woo, i'll do that.

Should have asked more in the nursery, but I was side tracked by the vegetable seeds.

When surrounded by veg seeds, a thing like the rose bush has a "somebody elses problem" field around it, rendering it, not actually invisible but might just as well be.

It only became visible when the thought of rose hips occured to me, it then became fuctional and therefore "my problem"
