    5. NO BYPASSING THE PROFANITY FILTER OR USING PROFANE LANGUAGE. Despite the modern tendency to make normal use of certain ‘cuss’ or swear words or other insulting or potentially insulting words or terminology, their use on this forum will be closely scrutinized and moderated according to staff consensus. Alternative wordings such as bl@@dy or bu99ger come within this rule.

I think Steve's comment regarding "a soft bu**er" was a reference to the product some folk use in preference to the hard variety as it spreads more easily.:D

Without intending to bypass the rules I wrote (of my Faffing about with seedlings etc.) something like "I'm a bit anal about this" which was not picked up. But something I wrote the other day, which was innocuous, certainly in the UK, was censored (sorry, forgotten the context). Has someone actually been through the profanity filter and decided what is relevant / not? There is probably a list of UK-based profanity words findable via Google that you could consider adopting.

I wasn't replying to the language, just the banter which was coming my way, which I took in good part. I can give as good as I get when needs must. :WINK1::)

A few years ago I and other colleagueshad a heck of a job sending some emails about ess eee ex education as the council's corporate server kept blocking them. Thet really scored an own goal there as it was a council curriculum development group that was sending the emails.

Sheal - I very much doubt if you fluffed any feathers - it took it the way you intended :dbgrtmb:

Actually, when I said "soft bu**er" it was a shortened down version of "Software debugger" :heehee:

On all the forums I have setup in the past, setting the swear filter is probably the least desirable thing to do, mainly because you realise just how many "bad" words are in your own vocabulary.
