There is Pyracantha [Firethorn] which once your Staffies have cocked their legs on it they won't do it again!!

Holly would soon make them think twice :D sit a log in the garden sitting on gravel to make them go their and give them a treat when they get it right they will soon stop weeeeeing on your plants.

I cant think of any plant that would last that long you could always put a barrier of chicken wire about 12 inches from the plant that would help as well, I used to have 5 dogs cocker spaniels sadly all have passed away I had 15 inch green wire running around all the borders that stoped them. the log trick worked a treat

Pyracantha, Woody, is prickly, so while it won't hurt them it would deter them. If you got prickled in your nether regions you would know not to do it again wouldn't you!!?? Dogs are not thick, I sometime think they're
smarter than us, so once "bitten" twice as shy!!

No, the berries are not poisonous if eaten, the birds love them. But like all things in the garden too much of a good thing can be a bad thing! If you were to check on what is and what is not poisonous in an normal English garden you'd get a shock. The number of people I know with young children who've got a Laburnum Tree in their garden is unbelievable! I doubt if the dogs would try to eat the berries anyway because that's why the Pyracantha developed it's prickly defense - to make it animal proof!
