Following on from Focus going in to administration our local store put notices up saying that business would continue as normal, but I went past it today and there are large signs up saying 'closing down', whether they have a sale on I don't know, nothing was on the posters; but I'll be popping in tomorrow to have a look.

Anyone else's local Focus store closing? or is it a countrywide closure?

Did hear a rumour today that B&Q were buying some or all of their stores, don't know whether there's any truth in that???

Its a shame, they were the last decent DIY store around here where you could just go in, pick up what you wanted off the shelf & not have to deal with a sales assistant trying to sell you overpriced rubbish that you didn't want in the first place.

needed a double base unit to finish off the futility room last week.

Went to Homebase and told the girl I wanted a cheap and cheerfull unit because no one is going to notice it.

Best they could do was £360. I said "You're having a laugh"

Got what I wanted at Focus for £40.

This was mentioned on a DIY forum I post on a couple of weeks back...not one single post had a good word for them.Tradesmen in particular said their stock was unreliable, items missing off the shelves time and again, and expensive compared to Wickes and the rest.

Just been in and everything has 20% off with some things (like kitchen/bathrooms) 30%, so no great savings yet as they were always more expensive that other shops anyway. However no doubt as they get closer to the closing date it may well change to 50% and then 75% off to clear the final stock???

Focus are rubbish. Went in our one last year for some Armillatox, couldn`t find it, so asked " sales assistant ". What`s that then? He said Never heard of that. I said, " fair enough, do you have Jeyes Fluid"? " Jays what? With that, I left the store. No wonder they have turned toes up.:dunno:

I've never actually come across a Focus store.

Very true; B&Q and Wickes are far superior stores...

Our local Focus store has looked run down for a few years now, almost waiting for the inevitable.

Seemingly un-trained staff that know little about anything you ask them, not their fault really but the company's for not training them in the first place.....

    Dai
Kingfisher group own B and Q and Screwfix . I think they owned Woolworths and Comet at some time but not now. B and M Bargains are buying up some of the Focus stores. In my opinion Focus was a pretty shabby excuse for a DIY store , our local branch always had something basic missing whenever you went.
