Black/White or Colour

Black and white, better detail and contrast, the colour image is too bland, B&w locates the highlights better giving it a better DOF and sharper image.

 

I thought this was going to be a thread asking what sort of new TV you should buy Woo

I think the B&W photo is more striking. :thumb:

 

The black and white stands out better for me Woo, and I love the shot.

 

I prefer the colour picture, it has more feeling and warmth to it, but it depends on what message your wanting to give with the photo....

 

I have to agree with Lad. This image its got to be B & W,, but.. and theres always a but with me. I woiuld prefer to see a little more tonal depth. Maybe some work with curves in photobucket would perfect it. Oh yes. A well spotted picture Woo wasthis the new FZ45?

 

I like both...equally!

The colour image is familiar, we can all identify with it as it's how we are used to seeing it, the black and white adds drama therefore holds our attention. But do you sometimes find that converting to B&W does not work or have the effect you where after?

I came across that brick wall a few years ago and devised a template within Photoshop to help counteract the very same problem.

Anyway, on this template I added every conceivable way I knew within photoshop to convert colour to B&W, so if I want to convert a photo to B&W in the future, I simply open this document up,double click the colour layer and paste in the photo I want to try and then save...then I will have 14 B&W versions to choose from.
