I have planted a lot of seeds after having some much needed help from some other members.

I now am reluctant to pull up anything in case I pull up my new plants please can someone let me know if the mass leaves are weeds, I know the big one's aren't.

I really do need help, how to tell a weed from a plant :o

    Hi Becca,

From the pics there looks to be a good infestation of chickweed and dandelion setting up stall. If pulled early they shouldn't be a problem but might become a headache if left until big.

Best advice with seeds would be to sow in pots or trays into compost and then when they emerge, you can plant them out with confidence knowing which ones are your babies and which might be demon spawn!

      Hi Becca

the ones in the first picture are petty spurge - an annoying annual weed which you should get rid of. The larger ones with long leaves in the second pic look like they might be something that would be deliberately sown, but its hard to say without knowing what you have been sowing!

        Hi Becca

I would agree weeds in the first picture (petty spurge) Second picture ,same weed in places , but the larger leaved plants look like Calendula (Scotch marigolds ) weed around these and you should get a nice show .Calendula do tend to seed themselves very easily so you may well have to pull a few out next season ..

The larger ones in the second photo look like marigolds to me. Did you sow any marigolds?? :)

I agree with Dave, first pic, weeds. Second pic, larger leafed plants are Calendula, pot marigolds.
