Blimey, that looks like a mushroom infected with another fungus.

 Wow that is different.. It certainly looks immature, I wonder if it could be one of the Amanita species.. Allot of them are lumpy bumpy exteriors.. Where did you find it.? Woodland or open ground.?

 Hmm well not sure but I think it is either an immature Birch bolete (Leccinum scabrum), Old Man of the Woods (Strobilomyces strobilaceus) or an immature Mottled Bolete (Leccinum variicolor)....

hey ziggy - i posted on another forum and they said:

it's a bolete that has been attacked by the parasitic mould Hypomyces chrysospermus; as it develops the yellow colour implied by the name "chrysospermus" will become evident

          how about that

Thought it was a boletus:thumbsup: I used to work on a mushroom farm & we had problems with Mycogeny fungus attacking the Agaricus Bisporus we used to grow.

I must be spelling it wrong as I googled Mycogeny & couldn't find it:DOH:

It would wipe the crop out, instead of 4 pickings we were lucky to get 2, and it stank.

I also wandered into a magic mushroom growing forum looking for it & discovered that there really is a thing called a "Unicorn Gusset Bag"

              Who would have thought it:OUCH:
