    Hello everyone,

I am a complete newbie to gardening with no experience whatsoever (unless a few house plants count). I have been doing a major renovation on a property I acquired in County Down, Northern Ireland over the last 12 months and till very recently my back garden had been my building site/dumping ground during the renovation. That’s now changing.

It’s a smallish back garden – about 50 Sq metres, rather square in outline and now on two levels. I have just completed the hard landscaping and hope now to gather some knowledge to bring a bit of pleasure and colour to the garden. My skill base is in the building/hard landscaping area (in the garden I have just finished building all fencing/division areas, shed, decking area, wooden planters, retaining wall etc and laid down a decorative pebble). I have always used forums on the house build/renovation side and naturally came looking for one for gardening now I have got to that stage. I will be looking to create a few border areas for climbers and other plants and utilise several planters, a few window boxes and no doubt many pots.

That’s were I am at the moment and look forward to tapping into a wealth of knowledge and advice to brighten up my little space. Big thanks in advance.

A very warm welcome JB. We have all been through the same stage of starting from scratch - so we know the feeling.
