Considering they can't even get the weather right on a DAILY basis I guess I won't panic just yet. I WILL be taking precautions just in case though.......

We need to work up some sort of deal because so far this year we are over 25% down on our average rainfall - which is about the lowest in the country.

I've got to go out there now and move the sprinkler to another bed. Everything has got the droop. :(

It is quite sunny out there and the forecast is mid 70's for the next few days.

You where recently up here in rain soaked Cumbria where you had the option to go out every morning and get soaked to the skin so you could capture and take home some rain.

But what did you do? Laze around long after breaakfast to avoid the rain....:loll::yahoo:

        Steve...:)

          That wasn't my fault! :dunno:

When we're on holiday we don't do early mornings. The rain did it on purpose and ran away when we went out - but we did manage to fool it and caught a few minutes of it a couple of times. I'm sure it was playing with us as it rained some of the evenings but every time we went out to our car to go out it stopped!!! :rolleyespink:

But we had a great time anyway :happydance:

As someone who's worked outside for the last 35 years, I'd agree with that blacksmith.
It does seem that we get a run of mild winters for a few years, then a run of hard winters, then mild again and so on.
I can remember some hard winters with a fair bit of snow in the 60's, then some more in late70's/early to mid 80's.
If my memory is correct there was a short run of two or three cold winters around the early 90's, before the present 'spell' which has given us the last two cold winters (so far).
In between all these were similar spells of unusually mild winters, and others which were merely 'average'.

I remember seeing the Thames Estuary frozen over in 1963, a weird phenomenon. A snowbound winter that went on for weeks, in fact I think it was months. :)

My parents had some amazing photgraphs from that winter, they thought it was the worst they'd ever seen, the sea had frozen even !

I was just going to post the same thing :) My dad often spoke about the few years before I was born when the sea froze, I'd forgotten about that until now, it brought back many happy memories of my dad though.
