Is there any problems if I plant bamboo in soil and plant out of the containers, I have some clear soil that I am considering planting the bamboo in, does bamboo cause any problems when left to grow on its own?

this really depends on the variety of bamboo. Some is what is termed 'clumping' bamboo and some is 'running' In reality, most bamboo can spread and some are positively invasive ...even the ones that behave for several years can eventually spread out quite a bit! Bamboo sends runners along under the surface of the soil, then comes up nearby.

To make sure you don't have a problem, sink a plastic half barrel with several drainage holes..or even with the base removed. So long as you get it deep enough for the rim not to show, this will not show and willcontain your clump.
Alternatively, plant your bamboo in a big planter. This could be partially burried or used as a feature in it's own right.

Julie has given excellent advice. Don't trust bamboo not to spread. Some varieties can be dreadful and your neighbours won't thank you.
