I agree it can be hard to use, but I find their search facility second to none and incredibly useful.

    Here it is

You might also want to look at the Mother's day page as we've got some really interesting gift ideas such as membership, tickets to the shows or some really good fruit, veg and flower prints.

    Shout with any questions.
    Cheers, Chris

I love lupins but so far I am not having great luck with the ones I inherited last autumn. I'll post some pictures. Lovely green leaves keep popping up but within days they look bad, are they being eaten do you think? Any tips would be gratefully received....

Slugs and snails also love lupins, sadly.

Yes, I feared as much. I have tried putting sheep-poo pellets down but doesn't seem to have helped. They are supposed to be a more eco-friendly way of detering slugs but I am not sure it has made any difference. Next stop, eggshells!

Nake sure the eggshells are well roasted first, otherwise the slugs head straight for the remains of the albumen inside the eggshells! Coffee grounds are supposed to work too. Not tried copper yet.

Oh no! I put raw egg shells down so that's not going to help then is it! Thanks for the tip, will make sure I roast them next time. I have a whole tray of lupins that I'm growing from seed so hopefully I'll find some way of making sure at least some of them survive.

They are such beautiful plants I really want to make a success of growing them!

Maybe try them in large pots instead then! I know what you mean about them being beautiful - my OH loves them so I always have a few to keep him happy :)

Excellent idea! I'll keep a couple in pots as well as trying them in my borders and hopefully that will keep the slimy pests away! Thanks so much for your help.

I find once they get big enough slugs don't seem to do damage, it at least it's easier to control them.

I keep mine flowering by removing the flower when the bottom set of petals die off.

how large a pot would i need for just one? could i plant a few together in a slightly bigger one? i've never had much idea about volume....

ill def have to put them in pots, the garden never dries out in winter...
