Can anyone recommend a large shrub or a small tree that will grow to maximum of 4 metres that can be planted next to a garage that is evergreen. Dont want much hey?

Im just worried i will affect the foundations if i put the wrong thing in. A tree would be great but if its a large shrub that can grow up the side and overhang then that would be great.

Escallonias (Iveyi, Donard's Pride, Rubra Macrantha), Elaeagnus (x ebbingei, pungens maculata), Viburnum Tinus, Camellias (such as × williamsii 'Anticipation') , Osmanthus x burkwoodii.

If you want more of a tree shape, buy a fairly young shrub and remove all but one main stem, allow it to form a 'trunk' and then remove any new shoots which grow below a certain level.

      Hope this helps :)

      Photinia red robin,
Looks nice all spring and summer with its redish leaves and nice throughout the winter.

This is one shrub that I always recommend:

Garrya James Roof, gets to a height of 9'ft and 6'ft in width, is evergreen, tough and hardy, and gives you a cracking display of tassels during the Winter.
