    Good morning Kandy and everyone,

Wow, Kandy, those are quite unpleasant driving conditions. :(

Penny, frost at night and hot during the day - reminds me of my times spent in some deserts :hehe:

Steve, did they cancel HRH's visit because of the weather?

Yesterday was cold and damp here and the temp went down to 1C overnight but it is a beutiful sunny day this morning with the thermometer already at a warming 3C :hehe:

There will be very little chance for me to do much in the garden as we have visitors arriving this morning and when they have gone later this afternoon I have to write some reports for a meeting I'm chairing this evening. I haven't really got my brain into gear yet this morning to write the reports now :( :old:.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning everyone,

Another wet day out there this morning so no gardening or allotmenteering for us today or the next few days at this rate.:(I shall be glad when Mr Kandy goes back to work next week because every time he has a weeks holiday the weather is miserable every time he has holiday time off from work:p

    Friends of ours in the village have gone away yesterday camping to North Wales so we didn't envy them trying to put up a tent in the weather conditions they would have been getting yesterday{snow:p}

Shiney,we could do with some of that lovely sunshine you have down there at times sending up to Kandyland so we can get outside:D

The builders next door have already started laying the first course of breeze blocks despite the footings being filled with water so all those grey bricks will be absorbing the water:skp::(

Anyway,I had better go and start sowing my veggie seeds indoors or else we are never going to get them grown big enough to go out on the allotment if i leave it much longer.

Hope you all have a great day and are enjoying April{and it's showers}:D

Kandy I hate travelling at the best of times and those conditions look horrendous..

It has been really cold again here and wet and miserable but I got out yesterday to spend time with my son and his girlfriend. :)
Rosa I bet you cannot wait for the sunshine now so you can enjoy your garden and plants.
Penny have a good day and I bet you are glad to be picking up your daughter.
Shiney when you get your brain into gear will you let me know how you did it? :hehe:
I haven't seen Woo but a great big hello :D

    Good morning everyone.

It's an absolutely beautiful one here just south of Glasgow! Sunshine from horizon to horizon, not a cloud in the sky and it is perfectly still! My labby has had a nice run about over on the green and I'm just about to start sowing a few rather late seeds.

Helping someone out with their garden tomorrow and sunday, just a bit of pottering really - weeding, sowing a few seeds, dead heading etc - and get to borrow a spade and such in return. So although the silly over grown grass looks like it'll be staying, I'll get to put in some borders, yay! Maybe I'll try and go for that oh natural look this year lol, who needs the perfect lawn with perfect edging anyway, right? :P

Hope the weather cheers up for you all!

    Good afternoon everyone,

It was a sunny but cold day yesterday and it rained during the night. This morning was, again, sunny and cold. The temperature has soared to a warm 50.4F with the pressure dropping - but still bright.

Kandy, I'll try and send some sunshine up to you. :thumb: :)

I'll try and take notes but, as I'm a man, I'm not sure I can do two things at once. :rotfl:

We are just going off to a Nursery near here that sells mainly to the trade but will also sell to the public. We'll have a look round but definitely want some ivy leaf geraniums for our hanging baskets. They are 80p per pot.

    Have a great day :D

    Good morning Woo, Rosa,and everyone.

Lovely spring daffs Woo,I'm still waiting for most of my larger ones to flower as I have my tiny ones out but have only had one of the larger ones in flower up to yet:p

Rosa, lovely to see you again and hope all is well with your garden plants and bulbs:)

Shiney, thanks for that bit of sun yesterday, but could do with some more so we can get over to the lottie to get started as I only have me shallots and onion sets in up to yet,oh and my winter broad beans are all through and have had a feed:)

We had to nip down to B&Q to get Mr Kandy a new mouse and some polyfiller and while i left him sorting that lot out i went to have a look at the gardening stuff and found that the packets of Anemone corms were reduced from 98p down to 49p so i bought four packs although now i wish i had bought the other few packs as well as that is good value for the lovely show they put on in the spring.I have got them soaking in water at the moment.Mr Kandy wanted a pack of the freesias that were reduced as well so have them to put in when we have a dry spell:p

It is dry out there at the moment and 38.1f so looks like we shall have dry weather for the next few hours:)

Have a good day everyone in all that you do:)

    Good morning everyone,

It is drizzling here but positively hot compared to Kandy - 41.8F :hehe:

Kandy, why did Mr Kandy go to B & Q? If he wanted a mouse and some polly filler he should go to a Pets R Us. :lollol:

We bought 18 ivy leaf geraniums, 3 attractive house plants (in 6" pots) that we shall sell in our sale but I can't remember the name, and four other plants (all about 3ft high) which were 2 hebes, a cytisus, and a dianella - all for £30. The dianella is big enough to split into four plants. They are also going to put up a poster about our open day.

Newsflash - the rain has stopped and the sun has just come out.

I think that I shall put in the bean canes today. This usually take quite a bit of time. I put in about 100 canes (two plants to a cane) but have to be very careful about my neck and shoulders and not overdo it. Pushing the canes into the ground is one of the worst exercises for someone with neck and shoulder problems :(. What I do is push all the canes gently into the ground and then stop. Then each day I go out and push them a little further in until they are very firm. Then I tie them in and then get Tracey to see whether she can push them in further. They need to be in very firmly because of the strong winds we get from across the fields.

Mrs shiney shall be potting on, splitting, sowing etc in the greenhouse - with the help of Oscar. :)

    Have a great day :D

    Morning Rosa and Shiney,

Just been out for a nice walk with Mr Kandy before the rain starts again and now he is watching the practise session for tomorrows Grand Prix:)

Rosa, I am thinking of going back down to B&Q to get those last few packets of Anemones as that is very good value but will have to go on my own as Mr Kandy is glued to the telly at the moment:D

Shiney,Mr Kandy has a piece of DIY equipment called a mouse made by Black & Decker and it is a small sander shaped like a mouse which he has beem using on sanding the wood on the stairs ready for staining. The other one he had finally packed up yesterday so we nipped down to B&Q to get a replacement and as they were on offer at £27.98p instead of £39.94 or thereabouts plus it has a bit that catches all the dust he got one, while i was sorting out the bulbs:DThe polyfiller is for what it says on the item{filling holes}:p

Good Luck with the canes Shiney,Mr Kandy does all ours but won't even think about putting them in until May time and then that will depend on the weather:pDon't overdo it too much Shiney now that you are getting a bit :old:and hope you pay Tracey well for all what she does for you:D

Anyway,me toms are through the vermiculite and are now on the window sill,I have a pile of washing to iron, plants to put out into the ground when i have sorted out some wood to kneel on whiel I do that and then no doubt will find other things to do:D

Hope you both have a good day:)

PS,We have had some Easter eggs given to us so will have to see if i can fit the odd piece into my diet:p

Hmmm, sounds like a trip to B&Q might be in order today Kandy - thanks! Will need to pop down and see what offers they have!

I popped into Morrison's yesterday to pick up a few eggs for Jay to take into the hospice and put a tray out for other volunteers over the weekend - ended up picing up alot of plug fuschias (bush and trailing), bizzie lizzies, and some lovely first year perennials that were on two for £1.50! For that price I can have some patience in watching them grow :) They only had two lupins though - so will have to get some more as I do love lupins :)

Pleasantly surprised yesterday morning - my 10 and 11 yr old could be heard in the ktichen, electric mixer going, and comments such as 'no, not too fast, don't put it on turbo, it'll make a mess' - they had looked up a recipe for pancakes (but were more like crepes) in their 'cookery for kids' cookbook - and were busily making pancakes with strawberries, cream and maple syrup for everybody! They did it all from weighing the ingredients to cooking them - only help they needed was using the right pan after a few fails on cooking the first few. 11 yr old is in there now making another batch - quite proud of their accomplishment all on their own yesterday!

Lots of rain here yesterday - hopefully it holds off today - as the men in the family are off up to catering friends to do a pig roast and a leg of beef roast over the open fire - so crossed finger for continued no rain this morning!

Have to make a decision today - keep the allotment, or build some raised beds in the front garden. I love the size of the allotment and the soil is great - I just find it really hard getting the time to drive all the way down there - and at some times of the year, you have to go down every couple of days. It's about a 15 minute drive away - and with me working at home, I've always used my lunch hour time to head out into the garden, do some weeding, harvesting etc., and watering while dinner is cooking. So, raised beds (our soil here is horrible - solid chalk at back, clay at the front), or keep the allotment........Will head down there with the little guys today and see what I feel when I get there I think.

Well, everybody - have a great day, happy Easter and I've been informed that for tomorrow only, all chocolate is apparently calorie free........and I'm not going to question it!

    Have a great one everybody
