I've just recieved my info from Aquaplancton.
Looks Ok, but I think 60 quid is a bit over the top for something that 'works on blanket weed' and is only 'fairly effective' on green water, their words not mine.
Also I noticed lisa said you can use it with 'pond balance', but why, surely they are both used on blanket weed, one or the other, but you shouldn't need both.

    you're welcome, Roders. [IMG] ;)

Pete- what do you think of barley straw? I've never actually used it, as I thought it was a bit much in a realatively small pond (only about 1m square.

Well, I've tried barley straw without much sucsess, but my pond is drasticly overstocked with goldfish, so you cant really go by me.
I've used 'pond balance'and it works but you need to keep adding it over the summer.
I've also used 'algorem' for green water, that works but it takes a while.
Tried some stuff from a company called 'viresco' last year, came with lots of technical data, was a reasonable price though.
    Didn't work for me though.

:) Just had a look back and the first post I could find of mine, was this ......March 2006.

For pond people these are two subjects that come up over and over again as do many subjects in our rewarding hobby.
As we drift in an out of Gardeners Corner.........Most of the answers are hear.....not all correct, but always food for thought.:dbgrtmb:

Why does it have to be barley straw, wont any old straw decompose and use up the nitrogen in the water ???
