Here's an extract from an Amateur Gardening Magazine article regarding a new Primrose type that might interest you:

"A Plant Breeder is claiming to have discovered the "Holy Grail" of the Primrose world - a speckled Primrose.

Howard Lupton, 63, created the novelty primrose in his Green Houses at Great Plumstead, near Northwich. The blooms are the result of a seven year quest using plants he grew that had a few random spots, a genetic blip.

Howard, who grows 65,000 primroses a year, is set to market the eye catchers as "Blackberry Ice, Strawberry Ice, Blueberry Ice and Raspberry Ice" with the names reflecting the white speckles. Already trialled at Emey Garden Centre in Norfolk, 100,000 of the Ice plants will now be sold at major national outlets."

I must admit that I'm not sure I would buy any as I like the pure colours of the Primroses now available.

I think in this case spots are defined as a few splashes of white, whereas speckles are defined as many flecks of white on the petals........but then again I could be wrong.:snork:

There's pictures of them in the AG magazine, Joolz. I can't say that I'm all enthused about them though, as there are a lot more attractive plants out there:snork:
