i received this via email today from my local freecycle group although it seems to be countrywide so i thought i would pass the warning on

'A number of other UK Freecycle groups have reported a hacker contacting members using email addresses in Freecycle posts.

The hacker sends out an email (copied below) which asks the Freecycle member to install software on their computer. This software is malicious code - do not install it!

If you receive a similar email through the group, please forward it to the moderators and delete it immediately. DO NOT click on any links in the body of the message or agree to install any software.

The email is copied below for reference.

    Regards,
    (mod)

As a general piece of advice, do not install ANY software on your computer unless you are very sure of where it came from. Certainly do not install any unsolicited software sent to you in an email from someone you don't know!
