I think the first thing must be to get rid of the straight path down the middle. Straight lines make gardens look smaller than they are in my opinion.

I think its always nice if you cant see the whole thing in one go, so maybe break it up into sections seperated by arches and such.

It really depends on what your sister wants from her garden. And not just your sis, but anyone else in the household. Are there any kids for example? Or are there any special requirements? Does your sis have a colour scheme, or anything at all that might give us a clue as to what she might like?

It's a nice blank canvess Nick, I would break it up into three curved areas with grass sweeps. I can picture it in my head but it's hard to describe in words.

Does your sister want veggies or a greenhouse?

Questions need to be answered. How much work does your sister want to do. Does she even have a green thumb. And how much money does she want to spend. How much time does she have to keep it all up.
And wondering how long she has lived there, just moved ----or been there for years.
If been there for years and not anything "really" planted makes me wonder how dedicated she would "really" be.

And I agree, don't like the straight concrete path.

here's just a quick pretty picture ... but obviously a lot more planning needs to be done .... one needs to see which section is south facing etc and find out what type of plants/shrubs your sister likes

get the lawn sorted ... a few shrubs etc on the sides.... a new patio, the other shed from the neighbour, and a spot for a greenhouse to grow veg etc

at the back, perhaps plant a couple of rambling roses to smother the leylandii conifers .... there are some really vigorous rambling roses that will cover that hedge in quick time and look superb when in bloom (a clematis Montanna may also work) ....

when I have time, I will do a better layout on one of the other photos (this is just showing space management)
