Its actually moved on a fair bit since these photos which were taken in 2010. I used seed on the area from the patio to the bottom, about 70 ft to make lawn. The path and lower patio have been lifted and re-laid. Where the old pond was is now a raised veg plot. The shed has gone and been replaced with a 10 Ft square metal one. I put weed fabric and gravel on the borders due to the fact that nothing would grow in the ground on the left hand side as you look down the garden, due to all the trees in next doors garden, so i used a lot of pots. I now have new neighbours and most of the trees have come out so i am starting to plant up down that side. I am also in the process of putting in another path across from the veg plot to connect to the path on the left so my son has a circuit to go round on his bike etc. And i am putting a new border the other side of this. I was going to take some photos earlier but it was lashing down, hopefully i can get some new ones over the weekend.

Still got to put path across from where the stack of slabs are to the raised veg plot and cut and prepare the border at the back of this path. I would also like to put some height in down the left hand side as you look from the house. Thinking of putting a few raised planters at the botton of the concrete kick boards, as i dont really want to take all the gravel out.

Good work Rusty !! Wouldnt you like a formal area of lawn surrounded by Box ? You have the room.
            Looks great.

I thought about it Mr Grinch, but i have a 2 year old son and the wife is not enthralled with the idea. I might have another think about it when he is a little bit older.

Mate i know the feeling well !!
My wifes not into gardening at all, she enjoys it when its looking good but would rather have a lawn garden (yard) for the kids to play in. Me, i want both. I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old, luckily girls so no ball games to destroy the garden. I will put Box around my lawn but will still wait a few years i think until they are a wee bit older.
Im training them in all things horticulture already, enjoy and not destroy :snork:

I too am trying to teach my son about horticulture and wildlife in the garden. He is fine whilst I'm watching him, but as soon as my back is turned he goes on a search and destroy mission.

                  Hi All,

Ive put the path in and dug the 2 borders today. Its nearly killed me started at 9 and finished at 7. So many boulders in the borders, ive took about 12 gorilla buckets full of them out. Need to get a stihl saw and cut the slab square, also want to cut a slab diagonally and put it each side of the path so my son can cut the corner on his bike. Ive also decided after looking at the photos that I am going to put a curved edge were the 2 borders meet.

Looking forward to planting it all up when i can get plants hardened off.

Wow, I think when I have weeded one of my beds I have made a difference, but that it a serious amount of work. You must be very proud
