I'm not really into sport (actually, not the least bit interested) but I checked on the net and it says repechage against all those that didn't come first in their heats. I thought that meant that they get to race off against each other - but 'I know nothing'!
At least Mel and her team have another chance on Monday to make the finals. Look forward to watching that. I must say that I have enjoyed watching the rowing this morning ... it is amazing all the different disciplines / techniques the teams use.
Yes, I think there's usually a place for the best team not to win a heat first time around, if you see what I mean. Although I don't know how they've organised things. Remove that ice cream, Mel. It's clearly not aerodynamic.
I thought they may have another chance but wasn't sure. What time is that one then?? Fingers crossed for that one!!
From what I can tell catz, it is on Monday, 30 July at 9:40am and if they make it through then the Finals are on Wednesday, 1 August, at 10:20am.
Great Britain's women's quadruple scull of Debbie Flood, Frances Houghton, Beth Rodford and Melanie Wilson must contest the repechage (6:20.71) after being pipped for third by New Zealand. Results rep·e·chage (r p -shäzh ). n. A trial heat, especially in rowing, allowing competitors who have already lost a heat another chance to qualify for the semifinals. From the BBC site , I had to look repechage up !
