"War time farm"

Apologies for beginning a new thread (I did a search, but my poor attempts didn't throw up the right thread).

Today I received the OU booklet which accompanies the BBC series (Yay, me!!!)

Have to say: how disappointing

Anyone else receive this "free" copy? Anyone else left feeling ...

 

I must say whilst I enjoy the series (and most of those which have preceded it), I haven't bothered to order the booklet for three main reasons:

1 - It's free and neither the BBC or the OU are comfortable with the word 'free'.

2 - A free 'booklet', isn't going to tell me anything, that I didn't already know, especially since it's suggested by the BBC and usually proceeded by those immortal words "A book to accompany the series is now available" (in this case a mere £20!!)

3 - It's an OU booklet produced in association with the BBC (or vice versa) and, despite what their adverts say, that ' .. the OU has been one of the top three UK universities for student satisfaction' Mr. F'smum is just finishing one of their courses and a more over-priced, badly designed, load of rubbish it would be hard to find. Booking places at summer school was a shambles, as were some of the on-line tutorials and one of the 'textbooks' they provided was so inaccurate as to be completely useless.

 

I've only just found the series (have missed the first few episodes ). we love watching Ruth and the gang go back in time. I saw the leaflet advertised at the end & I thought I wont bother, it looks poor.
