.........there are quite a few choice and very rare Impatiens varieties on Ebay at the moment. Just put Impatiens in the search and amongst the usual Busy Lizzies etc there are some of the rarer tuberous varieties like 'tinctoria'; its not cheap though at £12.50 a tuber!!, there are other tubers of other varieties as well at similar prices. There are also seeds too of some rare varieties, I've got my eye on a couple :dbgrtmb:

I particularly like the ones that grow like little rosebuds, but haven't seen any around for a few years.

And I used to have a single that was red and white striped. Haven't seen that one around either,

Thanks Bilbo - I have had a good look and there are a number that I had never heard of. But then I think you could devote a lifetime to collecting different Impatiens species. I see tinctoria is now £21 including postage. If you get some do show us how they turn out.

Hi Peter, I saw two listings for 'tinctoria', one was an extra large tuber for £17 plus postage (probably the one you saw) and there was another smaller tuber for £12.50 plus postage. I am tempted, not sure if my budget will allow it though :dunno::snork:
I have though got my eye on a couple of that can be grown from seed from the USA, one being a rather gorgeous purple/blue colour..:)

That's one of my favorite sites. I think the photography is superb.

          I also like the species.
I got a few during the course of the year - mainly Himalayan. Am in 2 minds to dig them up, or leave them outdoors and let them take their chances.

Cover your butt and take cuttings from each - they strike super easily.
