180 lovely little seedlings moved from the propagators to the growlight so stop them going leggy. Loads more to come through, I think there must be about another 1,400 seeds in at the minute ... and I still have more to put in!
Remind's me I must look to some tomatillos in for an early crop in the tunnel, awesome for using with the chillies to make a wonderful salsa.

      Hi C/M

I've got a few to sow (can't remember what they are now)but was holding off for now. You reckon early March will be ok?

The earlier you can get them in the better to give the best length to the growing season. The problem is that at this time of year you have to use heated props, followed by lighting. The lighting is to stop them going leggy at this early stage, so you can use T8 fluorescent tubes, I just have an old cupboard that I can move lighting around in to suit, and 4x 28w heatpads which can go under the trays or just in there to keep a nice steady temperature.
So, getting back to you question yes March is okay, but if you can find a way to get them in earlier it's worth the effort.

          Hiya C/M

I have lighting and heating:blue thumb: However, space is limited until my onions(if they ever germinate!)are able to fend for themselves out in the open(in the greenhouse). I'll aim for mid/late Feb.

          Cheers...Freddy

That's the sort of stuff I like to hear about as it makes me feel comfortable with my 40 seedlings (sown 27/12/12), 6 seeds sown and around 150 more seeds to sow.

It was reading about grow lights on this forum that go me into them early last year and now I've got four T5 lights and a couple of thermostatically controlled propagators (but still think about more of each) I can still 'garden' throughout winter.

Just put my Chilli seeds in for a 24 hour cold tea soak . I'll examine in about 4 hours and remove any floating seeds . Then the 2013 growing season starts ! :dbgrtmb:

I don't grow on the scale of Scrungee and Chillimad , I will grow on about 5 plants for us , and the rest go to family , friends and the guys at work. I am growing
Hungarian hot wax ,medium heat from seeds I saved last year - hope they are viable ?
                      Fuego F1 , another medium heat ( I think ) Italian Chilli
Anaheim , a mild USA Chilli

I started out only growing a few ... and then as the years progressed I just grew more and more!
I am heading that way with Tomatoes, I think it was 48 varieties last year ... but great for making your own chutneys and sauces, and nothing better than picking your own herbs, tomatoes and chillies for a lovely fresh and tangy salsa. Hmmm ... hungry now!
