        Still another 1,000+ in the prop's, with more to go in early this week. The ones over and above my own fun selection of super hots, are destined for sale at local markets etc. Gotta keep paying for this chilli obsession somehow... :blue thumb:

        Aji Crystal's a nice steady chilli, around scotch bonnet heat, normally grows well and I've had them produced lots in previous years.

            That's an interesting technique Harry!

            The only association I have had with tea & chilli is if I have tasted a "hot one" and I have to rinse the heat out of my mouth with a cup of tea :snork:

            Do you find it helps the germination any?

            I just made a start today, been a bit low of late (chest infection) so haven't got much on the go yet but there is still plenty time to catch up.

            In fact I am about a month earlier than normal with my chillies, I usually sow them late February early March.

            My reason for the early start is; the "ripening process" this has been poor to not non- existent over the last couple of seasons, so I thought I would extend this end of the season to see what will come of it!

            I put my today's work on to my 'blog' if anyone is interested!

              Hello Tee Gee , superb Blog you have there . I have visited it a few times from Google while looking for information . Its very easy reading and informative , keep it up :dbgrtmb:
              Now the weak tea soak for Chilli seeds , I have read about it on a few Chilli sites. Does it improve germination :dunno: I have never done a back to back test with , tea soak V water soak V no soak . It would be interesting if anyone has ?

              I have up to a point but not tea.

              1st = rain water
              2nd = tap water with weak nutrient (ferts or kelp, etc)
              3rd = tap water

              The difference between 1 and 3 is about one week. But that varies with the muck in your collected rain water and the disgusting chemicals in your tap water - inc hard and soft types.

                I'd also be interested in hearing, because I'm beginning to wonder what to do with all my chillies.

                  I took mine out of the airing cupboard yesterday . All 3 types had germinated in less than 6 days with about 80% success , so the cold tea seed soak could be working. In fact the Chilli Fuego was 2" tall , a bit lanky for my liking I should have taken them out after 4 days. I have them on the heated prop for 2 or 3 days , then into the light box they go :blue thumb: Possibly prick them out in 4 weeks time.
                  I wonder that as well Freddy :scratch: I usually keep 3 to 5 plants , I give the rest away , they give us enough Chillies to keep us going until the next July.

                  Some of my chillies sown on 27/12/12 are now about 125mm/5" high after only about five and a half weeks after sowing. I'm sure that back in the days of sowing in a pot/tray in a heated greenhouse in Spring they used to take much longer to get to that size.

                  Must get them into pots next week.
