      Moonraker makes a valid point. Your footwear can affect your clutch control. The clutch is the only one of the three pedals that only gives you feedback through the 'feel' of it (and even that is hardly noticeable on newer cars). I find I can't feel what's going on if I'm wearing my DM steelies, but I'm fine in trainers. If I wear my thin plimsole like shoes, I can feel everything through the pedals.

      In this specific case though, I don't think FC's shoes are to blame.

        Awww, bless you all - I am overcome with emulsion. :ccheers:

        clueless1 & moonraker - I agree that moonraker's point is quite valid, and although it doesn't apply to my driving or shoes, it is entirely possible that the previous owner may at least be partly responsible. Sadly, the other factor is that the earlier models of this particular car have been known for some clutch and flywheel issues (the parts involved have since been modified) and many cars were seen under manufacturers warranty - it may be that mine was one of the last of those with the pre-modification part, and I know for sure speaking to the Audi dealer today that it has never been changed.

          That assumes that wearing a heel does not give you a "feel" of the clutch (a naive assumption, at best).

          If you are used to wearing a "heel", then you would indeed notice the same "feedback" which differs from the norm. Just as you would if you had a tendancy to wear trainers most of the time.

            I also have full class 1 HGV And ive a C.P.C. (do you know what that is?)

            If you took my comment wrong then thats a shame, and with 20 years experience i would have thought you'd be the first to understand we're im coming from but also with all this experience i would have thought you'd know the legal side of transport and who to ask for "legal" advice as to getting this matter sorted out,

            But as i say if you've taken my comments as me trying to upset you! then thats your idea "it was'nt ment that way",

            As ive said ive been what is known as a petrol head for many years and i drive a car that cost a little bit more than your £13k infact three of my main servies cost that sort of price,

            So what i asked you was to try and see if perhaps you'd got into a bad habbit ref driving skills, some clutch foot peddles come from the top of the underside of your foot area of the car and some come up through the cars floor, the ones that fall downwards from the upper area of the cars floor area are in many cases prone to clutch balance (ie they're a much shorter pull to engage the clutch into action hence if the clutch 'foot" sits on this peddle while waiting to engage gears you'll find your wearing on the clutch plates (ask any clutch centre what happens if you have your foot resting on the peddle while out of gear)

            When wearing high heel boots or shoes men or women your not really aware that your pressing slightly down but enough to cause ware on the clutch,
            this is why i asked you the question,

            I couldnt give a rats arse what sex you are, i was just trying to help you (if this was the cause) to be able to understand it may be your own doing and should you find this tobe the case at least you'll know for next time;

            How many times have any of the members on this forum at some time or other in their lives been presented with a problem and they've asked

            "Why didnt someone ask or tell me about this?"

            Thats all i was trying to point out, but dont worry i wont try again;

              moonraker, I assure you I didn't take you the wrong way and I have agreed with your point on more than one occasion. Honestly, I appreciate any and all input to every thread - I am not one of these posters that starts a thread and then takes the huff just because someone posts something that I might not agree with or like.

              I agree that bad driving habits are often the cause of clutch and flywheel problems, and you were right to ask the question; indeed, when I was fitter, I wasn't shy at throwing a spanner or three and getting oily - however, nearly five years ago now, I learned that those days were long past me when, having dropped the rear sub-frame off my Jag XJ6, I had to get assistance to get the blighter put back together again because my back had given up on me - and since then my physical health has slowly deteriorated, to the point that I wouldn't contemplate doing much more than changing a wheel or a battery nowadays.

              In this case, I have had the vehicle less than three months and have covered very little mileage - and I reported the problem to the seller only a couple of weeks after purchase; I am not seeking to be an awkward customer - all I want is the three year old car that I have paid a decent chunk of money for, to be right.

              Please don't feel that I am in anyway attacking you, or narked at your reply as it is not the case - nor is it my style.

                  I'm intrigued too, what automobile do you speak of that costs 13k for 3main dealer services?

                  Ferrari?
                  Lamborghini?
                  Aston Martin?
                  Bentley?
                  Maserati?
                  Mclaren?
                  Porsche?

                  Dying to know!

                  Update - email back from the seller yesterday directing me to the warranty company; phoned the warranty company today and spoke to them who have in turn told me to book it in with their nominated repairer, Halfords Garage Servicing; so, she goes in a week on Monday to hopefully be sorted.

                  I fully expect that there will be an amount to pay that is over the £1000 claim limit, but I will pay it and then claim it back from the seller (hope they play nicely and I don't end up having to go down the legal route).

                    I hope your pleasantly surprised FC and end up getting a bit of money back in your back pocket. Its probably too much to dare hope that you'll get a lot back, but maybe enough for a new pair of shoes or something.

                    As long as I get the car fixed without having to pay anything from my own pocket, I will be a happy man.

                    With the exception of the clutch problems, it is a fantastic car - better than I even thought it would be before I got it. Even the master technician at the Audi dealer the other day said that there was nothing else wrong with it.

                    Just a shame that I've had the 'shine' knocked off getting a new car by the clutch troubles.
