This was neither buzzing nor flying, it was just hanging on to a leaf. Unfortunately, it fell off before I could get some pics, so took it indoors to do so. I think it might be a Cicada (spelling?) skin.

No, it's not dead, Robert, it just split it's skin and crawled out even bigger and prettier than ever. :hehe:

It is still on the windowsill, so I'll see about getting a really good close-up of it. :hehe:

In the meantime, I found this over a week ago. I'm sure I had a similiar photo some time ago but can't find it, so can't put a name to it.

It was a good 5cm long and had lovely delicately-patterned wings, a real beauty.

It wasn't buzzing, but it was being wind-blown in its web.

You are right, it is a Cicada Kedi, do they make much noise or is it too late in the year?

Thanks everyone, also for the two ID's, Walnut and Strongy.

Strongy, there were one / some ? over here at the kids house for a few nights last week and the noise! Since we so rarely get the chance to hear this seranade, we really enjoyed listening. On the other hand, I can understand why a lot of people find it nerve racking, being so extremely loud and continuous.

They are gone now, just hear the crickets and we do believe that the lizards "chirp, twitter and talk to each other in the evenings". It is lovely listening to them.

Peri, don't know about Lacewings nipping you as this one didn't move a bit and I didn't like to disturb it.

Talking about nipping, the lizards can do so and both Mr K and I have found that out first-hand when trying to rescue them out of the caged swimming pool here! Strongy, you would know about that.

Love your spider, Strawman, and I really do love spiders. :gnthb:
