    Evening all.

Has anyone used Shake n Rake or similar products?

These are basically flower seed mixes that you kind of sow like grass seed from what I gather.

I bought two boxes today. One of wildflowers, one of 'butterfly mix' (I think) and plan to sow them in the front garden which over the course of this year, is going slowly lose most its 'lawn'.

The feed back on the site was 50/50, I think there's only one way you're going to find out if it's any good. :)

        Sawdust, Zigs!
We've used them for a couple of years and have been pleased and surprised by the results.

Well the one in the link is discontinued . Years ago "guerrilla gardeners" used things I think called Bio Bombs or Bio Grenades (?) Which were wild seeds in a compost ball , these were thrown onto waste land and verges to proliferate wild flowers .

These aren't poppy ones that I've bought. There's all sorts in there.

Are you spreading this stuff over the lawn or clearing the lawn gradually and then sowing? I only ask as wildflowers can't compete with grass which needs weakening first

The front lawn is pretty weak, so I might sow into it, but I was planning to dig beds out. I might do a bit of both and see what happens.
