Not exactly a plant, but the chickens did unearth it in the garden. Does anyone have a clue as to what it is?

I did wonder if it was a spur... but I've not been able to find any that look like this, also I think the hole in the middle would have been narrower to take a thinner pin?

It's completely flat on one side, and looks cast. Possibly bronze. It's heavy, but not soft like lead, and isn't rusty. It's shiny when scratched...

Could it be a cog from a child's toy or an old broach set prior to putting in a large bead or stone.

The cog wheel from a semi-automatic rubber band gun?

Looks to me like the centre of a gas cooker hob (to take the weight of the pans).

      Cheers, Tony.

Not a clue other than it is very unlikely to be a spur as the ends aren't sharp enough. Old spurs were pretty lethal to horses.

The thing on the left is called a one pound coin. You used to be able to buy things with it, and technically you still can, but its getting harder and harder to find things that you can buy with it.

This isn't easy to explain but I'll give it a go. :) Would it be the centre piece that holds the 'spokes' on an old fashioned umbrella which runs up and down the central shaft.

I think that would have holes in it to act as a sort of hinge?

It's probably some random component of farm machinery and I'll never know what it is :-(
