Hi Hsuh at the moment we are going nowhere, the parcel got lost in the post, so as this is such a busy time at the moment, I feel we should wait and start again in Sept/Oct,I will add you to the list, post a new list, give everyone the option of trying to get some seeds together and carry on or as I suggested wait.

I really think it would be better to hold it until Autumn, if we start again now they will be too late for sowing this summer,(if we get one).

I had assumed that was going to the case ... was confused by your earlier message as to whether the last list was going to roll into the new list ... sorry about that.

I suggest you (or some other kind soul) start again the autumn and close the current pass-the-parcel for this Spring?

You did a cracking job last Autumn and IMO that would be a great model for next Autumn.

Just to throw reminder into the mix, when we do start again - Royal Mail has now changed its parcel size limits and prices again. There are now small and medium parcels, small (max thickness 8cm) go as £3 first class and if it goes as medium parcel its around £5.20 (I think)....

Large letters stay the same at 90p and £1.20 depending on weight and size.

So say something like a pizza box would be ok ? got my tape out and thats 3" deep, what about length and breadth, will go and play on P.O. site.

well that was as useful as a chocolate tea cup, will ask at P.O., as we have time to work it out anyway.

Thanks Bilbo, those price changes caught me out yesterday, I had to post a few ebay items. Having listed them over a week ago and used ebay's postage calculator I was a bit annoyed to find the postal charges had changed by the time my auctions had finished :frown: So I'm no longer using the Royal Mail after this fiasco and use the Parcel2Go service, it was a bit cheaper anyway and much more convenient, basically you weigh and measure the parcel at home, print out a label and take it to a nearby store, mine was a local corner shop open till 10pm, much much easier than the PO.

It might be a better service and cheaper to use for the Seed Parcel if the package is bigger than large letter:

I have used parcel2go a lot and like their services ,parcel is collected and delivered, so no P.O. at all, I would favour it myself, when you book, through internet it will be collected, usually next day and you get a receipt every time..or you can drop it to a collection point.it`s very simple to use.

Had a play on parcel2go and a 2 kilo parcel, doubt we would exceed that, sort of A4 size eg 35cmx 30cmx 12cm would be 3-99. that`s either collected or dropped off.
And i have guessed at some weights in the past, hopped on bathroom scales with and without parcel, and they are notoriously unreliable and never had a query from them.

Yes it suits me, as I work full time it's not always easy to get to a PO, so dropping off at a local shop that stays open all evening is ideal.

I put 20 or so Canna seeds in a tiny zip-lock bag in a normal DL envelope and stuck a stamp on it. Went to post office with it to get a posting receipt and the postmistress said she thought the envelop might be a bit thick and there was a risk it was surcharged. Tried to push it through the sample-slit thingie and sure enough it was a squeeze to get it through. 90p for a stamp just to send a few Canna seeds :(

Only sending friends Lobellia seed next year :heehee:

Been out of the loop due to a few family issues, sorry to hear this swap is list in transit, but hey it happens. Still happy to partake in the next one when ever it may be. While I think about it I show on the list as chillimade, how do I change it to chillimad ??
