Hmm, now, let's consider "modernity" ... plenty of people buying garden: pools/sauna's/Jacuzzi's/ .... nope, can't see any bog standard "central heating" there, FC ... just people with cash to burn ;)

Well, if they have cash to burn, its about time that I invented warm water jackets for them to wrap around their pots and precious specimens, paying me a fortune for the idea! :snork:

Sounds pretty normal to me. With the exception of last year, which truly was unusual (in my experience), Britain doesn't have summer, yet for some reason we still all believe it does. We get a couple of weeks in late spring, and a week or two at the end of 'summer'. The rest of the time we'll get weather that changes on an hour by hour basis.

Well as it stands the start of June, will be nice, with warm dry weather for most places. I'm not sure I buy what the French article has said, but I understand why they would say it.

For me there's an equal chance of a good summer as there is a bad summer. Things this year are a little different than previous years I think, much drier for a start, and this difference in pattern could help bring more settled weather.
