No Jack, it's a Miele, it's got at least another twenty years running yet! In fact it'll probably still be going when I'm not. :heehee:

Can you not just buy the board yourself and fit it? Oodles cheaper.

Nice idea Loofah, thanks, but where things like this are concerned both other half and I have two left hands, and two right hands wouldn't be any better either. :heehee:

At 8 years old the chance of something else packing in are fairly high so biting the bullet and investing in a new machine is probably the best option.
The heating element in ours packed in a couple of months ago, I'm reasonably good with mechanics and electrics and thought I just buy a new element and do a DIY repair. I found a new element would cost well over £100 and fitting it would involve MAJOR dismantling and take hours.
No contest. Bought a new one - a Bosch.

BTW. This lot seem about as cheap as you'll get for household appliances.

Thanks Dave, we've decided to buy a new one and were out yesterday checking out prices. Unfortunately it is very difficult to get anyone to deliver to the island and if they do they charge us the earth so we're having to buy locally. :)

Just to let you know my old machine was a Zanussi and my new machine is a Zanussi. I checked out the Bosches and the prices here were quite high. I also prefer the layout inside the one I've bought which is very similar to my previous one. :)
