Thank you for posting this, Sal. I wouldn't have known otherwise.

What a shocker and, yes, wishing them both best wishes, least heartache and a full "recovery".

Best of British to Mark & Gaz.

That is awful news. Gaz must be absolutely gutted , all that work gone in a moment. Hope they can rally enough spirit to rebuild it.

Oh that is soul destroying, I was only reading their blog last week and enjoying looking at their super garden. Sounds like they are taking it their stride - good luck in the rebuild Mark & Tropical_Gaz

Thanks everyone for their kind words and thoughts.

After the initial shock we are trying to stay positive and be optimistic for the future. We have the insurance people coming round on Monday to go through everything, but one thing is for certain we will rebuild and replant!

I'll keep you all informed of what happens next

Sometimes insurance companies are very good and other times they can be very awkward. don't let them get to you and just keep insisting on full payment. It should be for replacement and not just initial cost.

                              Terrible news.
Pleased to hear that you are going to clean up and carry on.

In that bad winter of 2010 I lost loads of my "tropical plants" (tree ferns, palms etc) and I didn't go near my garden for over a year after that. Was totally gutted and didn't want to get out there.
