We have been experiencing problems with our two bay trees for a couple of years now. Until about a month ago, they were looking ok but since have started to die back at the top. The lower part of the tree seems fine and there's plenty of new/healthy growth.

    Please seen enclosed photo:

We live in South Wales, UK. The trees are at the front of our house (front roughly faces North). There is another bay tree in the back garden and that's doing really well.

The affected trees are watered regularly and given Miracle Grow from time to time. Does this sound like a disease or something similar?

    Many thanks

    Richard

Perhaps this post needs to be moved to the "trees" forum?

Sorry I don't know what caused that, they do like plenty of water - maybe it's a different soil a the front?

My bay tree started to do that after it had been in the full sun heat wave we had recently. I moved it into a shaded position and it now seems to be making a slow recovery.

Prune it back into green wood and it should recover and put out more side shoots.
