    Two nursery visits today and I only succumbed to a bag of grit and a phlox white admiral. The latter smells divine.

      A.shawii by the looks of it. If I'm correct it sets seed freely and is easy to grow from seed too. Mature bulbs divide readily and soon form a large clump. Very susceptible to winter wet though.

      My Oleanders turned up yesterday. I've tried them before a few years ago and got some for my parents at the same time. I fleeced mine up over the last 2 winters but the leaves kept going yellow with round brown blotches in the summer so i got rid of them in the end. In contrast, my parents ones are fine yet they didn't fleece theirs at all over the past 2 winters, so i thought at £10 for all 3 i'll give them another go. Might even get another Bougainvillea too.

        Be careful in handling it Scorpio - I believe it is quite toxic,

          No photos but I've had a few bargains lately;

          Three pots of Ornithogalum thyrsoids for a quid each. Seven bulbs in total, but best of all there are genuinely hundreds of seeds coming along on them (they're very easy as long as the seed proves to be viable).
          Gloriosa superba for a fiver. It's done flowering, but I had a dig around in the pot before buying and there are at least seven tubers. Based on the fact that the growing tubers die, that leaves a minimum of five tubers for next year.
          Swainsonia (Clianthus) formosus seeds off of fleabay.
          A large and vigorous Duranta erecta reduced to five quid.

          Finally, Dietes iridioids. Not reduced, but a good sized clump for £7.50.

            Not exactly a purchase :heehee: but whilst we were in the Channel Islands last weekend a friend had an Aeonium in his garden (I'm guessing "zwartkop") and said he was going to demolish the garden ... thing is that it was a lovely branched specimen; all of mine are pretty much straight-up-and-down single stems. Never thought to force them to branch - I expect in the Channel Islands a cold snap in Winter every half dozen years did the trick ... or maybe it was a mishap with the mower?!

            Another friend happened to mention that they were coming over to mainland the very next day ... and said "Sure" to my casually asked question "Could you bring a plant back for me?" (as we had flown out) ... they might not have been expecting the size though :)

            So henceforth it will be called "I own 'im" :heehee:

            This is what mine looked like:

            and this is my new "I own 'im" :

              On another note, when we were on holiday met a lovely family and kept in touch. We invited them over yesterday, and as a way of a thank you, we received these today
