Not going to be doing much today as it's raining and showers forecast on and off all day. Don't think I'll be as lucky as yesterday so I think I'll just be pottering in between showers.

No, you wait until the flowers have set seed and you have collected/spread the seeds :blue thumb:

Yours is almost certainly a different sort of wild area. Mine (in the orchard) is just a spring wild flower area. It's mainly full of thousands of cowslips, primroses and primulas plus some bee orchids and they have all set seed now.

The whole of the area is covered in 3ft+ grass and some other wild 'weeds' (looks just like a weedy lawn when cut down) except for one area covered mainly in clover. The clover area, about 40ft x 20ft, will not be cut down yet as the bees are still going mad over it.

I've started off a summer flowering wild type garden in the right hand side veggie plot in amongst the hundreds of Aquilegias, Verbascum Chaxii and lychnis (and bindweed, strawberry weed, chickweed, violets and forget-me-nots ). They've only just started coming up as it's very new (just cleared some of the weeds in the last couple of weeks). I stuck some unsold dahlias amongst them (one of my bridge club members grew 400 too many :hate-shocked: and we've been selling them for our charity)

Not much to do in the garden today, as it is raining!!!(happy dance!)

I deadheaded the petunias, and have just run outside with all of the larger houseplants to let them get a leaf-wash and gentle soak. I love soft summer rain.

Lol, sorry you have to stand on your head to see the photo! My phone understands I'm left handed, and rotates the picture to display, but doesn't save the rotate!

I've just cleared a six foot circle round my acer brilliantissum tree to make room for the new tree seat on order. I dug up loads of bulbs which I'm saving to transplant but the smelly ground cover cornus is on the compost.

I also uncovered two hexagonal paving slabs which were buried in the undergrowth.

Still undecided about what to use for hard standing because the ground slopes quite considerably.

Finally potted the banana into its final pot.
Did the hedychiums while I was at it.
Hopefully they will make big enough rhizomes for the winter.
          Potted up 20 giant pansys
Nipped the tops of the toms
          Dead headed the dahlias

I thought I would have a go at finishing digging over the herb bed...

.... Hmmm - found another part of the cellar of the demolished building, also not properly filled in. So instead of tidying up, I had to remove another pile of handmade bricks, refill with hard core, and tamp down again, whilst trying not to damage the few herbs that are planted. Maybe next weekend....

One i just finished a few days ago actually. Now that the pond has gone i've laid a lawn, (or patch of grass anyhoo), for the Guinea Pigs to run round and crap on. Plus i get the benefit of being able to put a clothes horse out in the back garden too. Got to get a water feature next for the sound of running water as i miss the pond. Perhaps something about 1100 litres and room for fish lol.

The 2 Mirror Carp and 4 large Koi went with the pond, but they didn't want the rest as they had some fish in their existing smaller pond that they were putting in. So the Sturgeon went to a friend at work and the Bream, Green Tench, Gold Tench, Albino Grass Carp and 3 Roach went to a local dealer. Shame as i've had the Mirror Carp since they were 3 inches long. They only cost me 50p each. Still i needed the space and it wasn't doing my Sciatica any good. Having said that i lugged 80 bags of sharp sand from B&Q to fill the hole in without any problem. I believe it's called the law of the sod.

Hey i just noticed - "moo poo" - far out.

Been a busy few days for me - Wednesday, I gutted the shed out, unblocked a drain in front of the outhouse (showering myself with filthy water in the process), sorted through a pile of rubbish of various types to get it ready for the dump, then watered and dead-headed.

Thursday, up early to get the car in for its MOT, then back home to cart two car loads off to the local dump; after that, I had to shampoo the boot carpeting as something leaked out of one of the bags, so ended up cleaning and shampooing the whole interior; then I washed the car before pressure washing the drive, the undercover path between the house and the outhouse, and the area in front of the shed (where all the dump stuff had been); then pressure washed the bins, including a dousing with a nice strong Zoflora solution; then watered and dead-headed a bit more.

Today, it was the Sainsbury's Shuffle, followed by a watering session - gave my neighbours a good giggle when I was trying to water my troughs up on the outhouse roof as the only way I could do it in the absence of the lance was to use the old spray gun on jet setting and try to get the graceful arc of water to land in the required spot; this was capped off by the fact that it leaks, which saw the leakage running down my arm, under my armpit and then down inside my T-shirt which had me muttering like a good 'un :snork:

                          Love Merlin and Arthur :wub2:

This weekend (weather permitting) I'm going to be painting fence panels (again). Need to do the two remaining ones behind the shed, plus the little fence between myself and attached neighbour at the front. I am planning to lift the panels out and paint both sides. Shouldn't take long (hopefully) but I do need a trip to B&Q first to get more fence paint.

I am also going to rearrange some stuff in the back garden (preferably without doing my back in dragging heavy pots about) and have a general tidy up. Probably mow the lawn as well, even though I only did it a couple of nights ago, because it's growing like nobody's business.

I need to squeeze a nap in somewhere because I broke my own record and got up at 03:10 this morning - even by my standards that's early.
