Can anyone identify this tree in my garden? I planted it about 5 years ago... I think it's some sort of cherry and want to look it up on the Internet to find out how tall it is going to grow :-)

The shape and density of it suggests it's not a cherry Markymark. Is it possible to have a close up pic of the leaves please?

The bark looks slightly prunus like.

Here are some more pics. It flowers in spring with white flowers... I think I have a pic of it somewhere! I do remember that when I bought the tree it did say on the label about the need to prune it to keep its 'round' shape. I'm just trying to find out how tall it will grow.

I'd go with Pete and say the bark looks like a Prunus, but the leaves look like Malus to me. It also looks as if it's been grafted below the branches.

Most of the Prunus family grow to between 12 and 20ft.

Looking at the bark I'm also going Prunus/Cherry of some sort :), can't say I've ever seen one so dense and rounded, has this tree been clipped? :)

When I bought the tree it was tiny...in a pot and in flower. The picture on the label was definitely of a very rounded shape when mature...I do remember it saying that you had to prune it to keep its rounded shape. Over the years all I have done is to literally clip it to keep the shape. I have never taken off any branches or anything. I know I have a photo of it when it was planted...I will go and dig it out and take a photo of the photo and then upload it. Thanks for the suggestions so far. I am sure it is a cherry of some sort because of the bark...casting my memory's back to the days when I trained as a ranger!

Hopefully my pic will help...I am going to go back t the garden centre tomorrow to ask... It is only a local one,and dead friendly. I am sure that he will be able to confirm what it is...probably still sells them! Will let you, know, what they say. The suggestion of Prunus fruticosa Globosum Globossa I think is a strong possibility, looking at images on google.

Just looked up grafting too! I can honestly say that I have never done anything to the main trunk. Whe I bought it (see photo) it is only a tiny trunk. I did wonder what that weird thing own the trunk was...it actually seeps a liquid type substance on occasions, sort of like frothy soap suds.... Bizarre!
